Shrimp is meat. Some vegetarians eat shellfish, fish, or even poultry. Just because "vegetarians" eat meat sometimes, and aren't TRULY completely vegetarian, doesn't make shrimp anything less than meat... it doesn't miraculously make it a plant.

Check the ingredients. If shrimp is listed, yes it's meat. At the same time, are you really that concerned about eating powdered shrimp flavor?

My rule is that if it has a nervous system, I don't eat it. Shrimp are totally meat and anyone who tells you different is wrong.

Congrats on becoming a vegetarian. As long as you do it right (take vitamins, make sure you still get your Iron and B12) it can be a great thing.

If you are being a strict vegetarian - any thing that was an animal is meat. Some vegetarian, especially when they start include fish (shellfish, like shrimp) and poultry.
They are YOUR rules. You get to decide what to include and what to restrict.

You have to decide if you are going totally Vegan or you will still eat dairy and seafood. Shrimp is a crusteacian.

Yep, it's meat, animal origin. The REAL question for YOU to answer is what kind of a vegetarian you want to be . . . the possibilities are endless!
1.) Vegan - the most "hardcore." NOTHING of animal origin is going to pass your lips if you want to be a vegan, even something the animal didn't die to give you (like milk or eggs).
2.) Lacto/ovo - these guys eat milk and eggs, but nothing involving killing an animal.
3.) Pesco - they eat fish, and probably milk and eggs
4.) Semi - they eat chicken, fish, milk, and eggs - no red meat.

it's meat--seafood is meat! that's an animal, kiddo. ;) but vegetarians may just choose to spare certain animals, right? if you want to eat shrimp and aren't concerned about their well-being--they're populated well and aren't treated badly, really--then it's your choice whether you eat them or not. hope that helped!

A shrimp is still an animal. Therefore you would still be consuming animal flesh if you eat them in a cup of noodles.
