I thought it was going to be impossible but it can actually be very easy. The first couple months are the worst, especially since people (like parents, friends, etc.) still think it's only a phase and often pressure you to eat meat anyways. It's also the time when you're still eating meat-flavored things.
If you can get past those months it's usually up-hill from there. I would start by doing a lot of research and talking to your doctor. Vegetarianism can be very good for your body, but only if you do it right. Make sure you're at an okay weight and that you're already getting the nutrients you need. Ask him/her for advice too. I found a good brand of multi-vitamin, high in iron. Most people get more protein than they need, so that's not as much of a big deal as Iron and B12.
Try some extra firm tofu in something like a stir fry. Fry it evenly for a nice long time with lots of sauce, I find it can actually come really close to chicken. Is there a Harvey's near you? Their veggie burgers are amazing- although good veggie burgers are very easy to find. I have only found one good veggie hot dog/sausage and I cannot remember what brand at the moment, sorry. If you make smoothies, try using a high-protein soy milk instead of real milk. I'm not a vegan by any means, but I find this pretty tasty and it usually has some extra vitamins.
Just remember that you're not just cutting out meat, you have to replace it too. Increase your intake of foods such as beans (you can switch meat for beans for free at Taco Bell) and tofu. Check the health food sections and vegetarian sections at your local grocery stores. There's often lots of high-iron/protein items where you wouldn't expect them.

The easiest way is to make the change gradually - while you learn to make substitutions and if you "fall off the wagon" then to get right back on again. Eliminate beef and pork first. Then chicken and last fish. There are some good fast food options too. My daughter likes the cheesy bean and rice burritos at Taco Bell and Burger King offers a good veggie burger. There are some good soy substitutions that you can buy to replace hamburger in your favorite recipes. Some of the "fake" meat products are so realistic that my daughter does not like them because they taste too much like the real thing.

Why do you want to give up meat? Humans were meant to eat meat. It's healthy - and besides, if you don't eat a chicken tonight, I'll eat two.

Vegetarianism is bad for you. You can't even survive on the diet unless you follow very strict rules on what you can and cannot eat. Get a book on the correct way to eat vegetarianism....or else.
