When your blood sugar goes up it means your blood gucose is high (termed as hyperglycemia). This happens when there is a problem with your glucose metabolism as the result of insufficient insulin (secreted by your pancreas to make use of the glucose). With inadequate amount of insulin your body glucose remains in your blood and cannot be metabolized sufficiently to be utilized by your systems.
When your blood sugar ( blood glucose ) goes down (termed as hypoglycemia) it means your body systems are receiving inadequate blood glucose to maintain normal body functions. There is no adequate supply of energy to fuel you up so definitely you will fell ill.
The situation you are in now is most likely Diabetes Mellitus. You need to see your doctor as soon as possible to assess your full condition and proper treatment as needed is very important before your condition gets worse.

Oh my god, such stupidity in these answers. Short lesson, insulin is a hormone, it is a helper, it escorts sugar into the cells since they can't enter alone. Diabetics do not have enough insulin so the sugar floats around trying to get in. Take insulin and bingo sugar to the cells. Now if the sugar is high and you eat that will not bring it down that will make it go up. As for diabetic coma, your sugar usually has to be sky high for that to happen, I recently treated a patient with a reading of 720 and his complaint was "I think my sugar is off a little" so the point is it has to be very high for coma and it isn't a fast occurrence, it takes a rising level over several days for that to occur. Now low blood sugar is another story. Something is wrong with this question, try again.

It means your body produces too much insulin... When you eat, insulin in huge amounts is injected into your blood to cope with the sugar that is gonna come in from your food. After a while, it brings your blood sugar so low that your hands start sweating, trembling, you can faint, etc. This condition is caller hyperinsulinism in my language and could lead to developing diabetes when you get older if you don't already have it (accoding to my doctor because "your body's ability to produce insulin will run out some day(???)")... I hope this helps as a description. Go to a doctor and discuss the problem. You need to get some tests done and try to cut down carbohydrates, sweets in particular. Hope this helps. Good luck!
P.S.: After a while means 2-3-4 hours... The test that is done goes like this - in the morning you drink 75 grams of glycose dissolved in water and then your blood sugar gets measured every hour... Mine got so low at the last measurement, my hands started trembling and I felt sick. My numbers ran something like this:
5.8 before I drink the solution
something that I do not remember after 1 hour
around 9
3.9 which brought me to trembling hands and almost fainting...
Of course I am not a doctor and those guys below me know much more... but are unwilling to share it all :(

Sounds like you have hypoglycemia. This is kind of a precursor to diabetes. You should watch your diet carefully and eat a lot of protein. Even though your blood glucose levels drop, you should still stay away from sugar products.

There is a syndrome known a functional hypoglycemia in which food causes insulin output and the patient feels shocky. A diabetic diet helps this. Many of these patients go on the diabetes.

I've had bulimia, depression and anxiety but i take pills for them now, it can get like that if not treated properly. If you're in a teen state of mind then it's normal but you should consider seeing someone anyways Most teens that expierence it will grow out of it but some don't and it gets really bad. It can also run in families. My mom, two sisters and brother have all been depressed.

If your blood sugar is elevated you need to see a doctor to get it regulated with meds.Cause as soon as you eat it gets balanced out by the food you ate.Very important....happened to my Dad that way he almost fell into a coma.Do not wait til it gets to that point.
