I know it sounds weird, but it's true have you ever heard of a Dr. prescribing 2 different medications to a patient for an STD, but each prescription requires only one dosage and it should start clearing up your infection... The medicine is zithromax and fluconazole I think, I'm not for sure. I though usually for a STD they give you meds to take for like a week or so.. I don't know sounds weird to me...

The zithromax was taken in only one dose, but it was 4 pills at one time, so do it suppose to stay in your system or something and rid the infection?

There are almost 100 STD's documented....I would look up those meds & see what STD they are prescribed for.......Sometimes the carrier & the the recipient are given different dosages.....If a person already takes other medications, the doctor may prescribe a one shot dosage as you have listed.

Fluconazole and Azithromycin (Zithromax) can both be taken in large 1 time doses. They are finding out new treatments every day for STDs, UTIs, colds, etc. It would not surprise me that this is a new treatment.
Having a single large dose of either one of these medications has become routine.
You obviously had to see your MD to get the prescription. Why didn't you question it at that time? You should be a little more proactive with your health.

That does sound strange. Why don't u ask your pharmacist. They are trained to be knowlegable about medications. If u live in a small town and u don't want to ask him about STD meds, call him on the phone. (Remember to *67 though lol). All the STD meds I know of are for 2 weeks.

fluconazole (which is also known by the name diflucan) is a medication used to treat any yeast-related infection. women who have yeast infections often take one dose of diflucan (200 mg) to get rid of the yeast infection. so the one time dose of diflucan doesnt surprise me as this is done all the time for women with yeast infections who dont want to be bothered with vaginal creams and suppositories. zithromax, also known as a z-pack, is a bit odd to get in a one time dose. usually you take the z-pack for 5-7 days to complete the cycle. your doctor may have just given you a hefty does of it though to cut down on the amount of time you have to take medication. i would ask your pharmacist if this is a normal dose of the z-pack and if it is strong enough to take care of your infection. as far as the diflucan goes, i wouldnt worry about it as one dose of diflucan is enough to take care of any yeast-related problems in the vagina.
