No, like melissa said, almost all STDs can not survive very long once they are out of the body.

I have had genital herpes and HPV for over 5 years. I developed genital warts and cervical cancer from my HPV. I lived with my parents and two younger brothers for years with both of these virus. NONE of my family members ever got either virus from me by using the washer after me. I also shared a bathroom with my brothers and they never got the viruses from me by using the toilet or shower after me.

Most STDs need to be spread by sexual contact or by direct skin to skin contact. They just don't survive long outside of the body. Only a few STDs can be spread without sexual contact. Trichomoniasis can survive on infected objects like sheets, towels, and underwear and could be transmitted by sharing them. Pubic lice (crabs) can spread from clothing, bedding, or on a toilet seat harboring the insects.

No. Most STDs can not survive outside of the body. They are prone to warm temperatures, but not too hot, around normal body temp. Also, most like moist environments. Therefore, if any STD were present on the under garment, it would die after being outside of the body. The only STD that you can pick up without having intercourse with an infected person is trichomonasis, a protozoan that you can pick up off toilet seats.
