Lychee are in season right now!! They have them at my Vietnamese grocery. So yummy LOL. I love them. Where do they come from and what is their history. Are they and longan fruit similar?

The longans we get here in Portland are small and yellow in colour. They don't taste herbal :) When they come fresh, they keep them chilled on ice in a big bucket. Otherwise they keep them frozen in the cooler. Next to the fish.. lol... so they have a fishy stink to them.

Lychees all the way!! We do have them in the West Indies, but it's a whimsical and moody tree which doesn't bear fruit every year!
That's why they are so dam* good!

I like longans better normally, but only if they're the ones from Thailand. The Japanese ones are really small have a much more herbal type flavor. Unfortunately, the Thai longans are hard to come by, so I rather eat fresh lychee over Japanese longans any day.

History wise, they're both east asian fruit. The words lychee and longan come from Chinese. Lychee just means that, no special meaning, however, longan means "dragon eye" due to the appearance.

The ' longan' is belongs to lychee's varieties . yet for sure it tasted nicer than lychee . Longan is a competent nutrition , the place have been given end result no longer solid , end result provide us supplementations all this. no count if it extremely isn't any longer solid what for they nevertheless strengthen it and sells it everywhere in the rustic ? i devour this sometimes , yet each and every time i devour , no longer something occurs to me so it proves that it extremely is a competent fruit , nonetheless it extremely is slightly too candy ? yet basically delicate reminder do no longer devour too lots of this .

Lychees are generally sweeter and juicier. I personally like lychees better. Longan skin is yellow. That's normal.

I love lychee both canned and fresh. The fresh ones rocks. In Chinese buffets, non-Asians look at me strange when I get some canned ones in syrup from the fruit section. They look at that stuff as gross things. They are like what is that.

They are similar, but I think that lychee are better - a little bigger, more flesh to the fruit!

lychee grows at cold temperatures but not particularly... as far as i know, lychee is the local fruit of northern INDIA in summer seasons.......... but I don't know whether they grow some where else... i was thinking till now, that lychee is our country's (INDIA's) local fruit...
