It will stay there until you GET TREATMENT, And really NO time set as far as chlamydia destroying the female organs. But that is something any woman would want to get taken care of. I had it once and the PAIN was SO BAD It left me with NO choice but to seek medical attention, But I was told many women do not PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR BODIES, So they tend to spread things and keep germs for along time, This is why a Pap Smear once a year is so very IMPORTANT to have. They say that it takes a chronic infection to leave you infertile. Chronic usually means longer than 6 weeks.. but it varies from person to person. If you think you have an STD get tested... and treated.
