I'm a 44 yo male, a litte over weight, doesn't drink much, and doesn't smoke. I had a stress echo 2 years ago and everything was reported as being clean, but I've had some tightness in my chest and thought it was from my cpap machine, which I use for sleep apnea. Family Dr did an ekg and compared it to one he did 2 years ago and said there were some changes and he thinks he sees something that suggests ischemia. I don't have tightness all the time, just once in a while, mostly in the morning, I work out and don't get winded, unless its a strenous workout. I eat mostly proteins and fruits and veggies, and take flax seed and fish oil pills everyday along with my blood pressure pill (verapomil) I just don't understand how there could be a narrowing in 2 years?

The doctor usually needs to be present when this test is performed, so they will probably tell you right away.
If you've been exercising it could take a while to do the test - cause they make you run until you get your heart rate up to a level to stress it out :)

Well it sounds like you'll be ok. With the stress echo the doc is looking for any wall motion abnormalities using either medications or inducing stress. It'll take about 30min, it all depends on the doctor. The doc should know probably that day even sooner if he's in the room while it happens. If he does notice anything he'll more than likely send you to get a cardiac cath. And to let you know that unless your family doc has had previous cardiology experience he's probably not keen to pick up on a lot of things, especially ekg's. Anyways, just to let you know that stress echo's are mainly subjective, and if you're very concerned why don't you opt for a cardiac cath, just to put your mind at ease!

depends on the doctor. Sometimes they will tell you the results right there, sometimes another doctor will read and dictate and report and you'll have to wait for the report to be transcribed and returned to your doc then your doc gets ahold of you. Don't worry too much cuz you'll make it all bigger in your head than it is. Sounds like you're living a pretty healthy lifestyle and the doc is just being thorough. Good luck and God Bless.

i get my tests done checked twice a week, and i usually found out that day. just a few minutes after the test is done.

are you having one done on a treadmill, the one where you see it on tv, or the one where you just sit there...i think the treadmill one takes the longest.... good luck :)
