I was not aware that repeated vomiting induced or not induced could or would cause H.F. none of the answers that I've read have given me a real answer.

Potassium might give you arrhythmia, but that is not heart failure, and really... how many times do you have to induce vomit for it to take effect?

Parasympathetic stimulation does not cause heart failure, so please... if there is somebody with REAL information about this do let me know, but for the time being I'm gonna say there is no relation, not that i know off

It does not cause "heart failure", but rather a very slow heart rate, which in turn can cause your heart to not pump as well as it should.

The reason for this is that vomitting stimulates an area at the back of your throat called the vegal nerve which controls vital functions of your body including how fast your heart pumps. The nerve then sends impulses to the brain that stops your body from pumping blood like it should.

You can also lose a lot of electrolytes by vomitting(particularly calcium and pottasium) which are what causes the electrical activity of your heart cells to pump.

When you induce vomiting on a regular basis you are taxing your body. It is stressful on your body to heave and throw up which is why you have aches in your stomach and sides afterwards. When you vomit your body is also deprived of the nutrients from the foods you have eaten and your body produces stress induced chemicals which are not good in high levels over a long period of time. Your heart will not be the only organ involved.

Your body needs all the nutrition it can get. By inducing vomiting you deplete your potassium. And your heart needs potassium to create that chemical reaction in your cardiac muscles to cause that action potential to send electrical messages throughout your heart so it can beat! (circle of life :) ) So since it is depleted it will slow your heart rate, cardiac output and so on. Not only that but if you rid all that acid in your body, your body goes into that state of metabolic alkolosis, which will open a whole new can of *&^% that will make you wish you were dead!
