Ever heard of wikipedia? It's a very neat website with answers to all kinds of questions. Here:

Hey

Even though Eversick has a terrible avatar,
(Looks like he is constipated)

But, he has a great answer!

The left branch divides again into two branches so the 2 left + the 1 right = 3 or Tri-fascicular

The branching out of the two left branches happens after the AV node which is the place where a natural 1/10 second delay occurs.

That is important because it allows the ventricles to fill before the blood is pushed out to the body.

In this case there is a longer unplanned delay which may cause problems.

So as Eversick mention a pacer is a good plan.

They are really small and they are very good as compared to the old models. Plus the advancements in the battery life has made it even better.

Well basically the hearts electrical system is jacked up. Normally the heart receives electrical stimulus to perform it's squeezing, its starts at the SA node and travels down to the AV node, to the bundle of HIS, then splitting into left bundle branch and right bundle branch to the ventricles for them to contract. In your stepfather's case, the electrical stimulus is not reaching the right bundle branch and partial left bundle branch as it normally would. Because of this there is a delay between the normal mechanics of the heart. So in conclusion, your stepdad might need a pacemaker to regulate that electrical activity and make sure that the mechanics of his heart are working properly and efficiently!

The fascicles in the heart are bundles of nerves which the cardiac impulse travels down to make the heart muscles contract and the heart beat. Although I cannot find a specific description I imagine that these nerves are diseased and so are not working properly and a pacemaker is needed to make the heart beat to pump blood around the body. There are three fascicles in the heart and so trifascicular would mean that all three of these are affected.
