It doesn't affect anyone except the animals you are saving.
Being vegetarian can be tough, meat eaters really cant understand the concept and how dare you not enjoy a juicy steak.
Don't worry I have copped it for years too, people are gradually getting used to it and I hope your friends do too.

I complete agree with your frustrations. You think people would be more supportive of our lifestyles but oh no. I can only see that people who eat meat do not like vegetarians/vegans because we make them begin to consciously think about the nature of their diet and they are not happy that we have taken their food and put a face behind it. Even if we don't judge the way they eat out loud, they feel we already are by going against the grain and making the conscious decision to cut this from our diets and the fact that we can do it without bringing our health into question really bothers them.

it doesn't...at all. my gf is a lifetime vegetarian and it seems all meat eaters want to do is convert her or give her grief about not consuming meat. what they get out of that is beyond me. at some point i thought perhaps they felt a little (dare i say this) morally inferior and were attempting to knock her off her high vegetarian horse as it were. why, i don't know. never have i heard her criticize meat eaters ... not even me ... although she'll wait an hour or two to kiss me after i've eaten that neopolitan sausage and pepper pizza.
thing is, don't change for anyone. if for some reason you decide to change your diet, do it for personal reasons not because people browbeat you into it. do what makes you happy/content.
good night.

They're just making a ridiculous issue out of it the same way people make issues out of those that don't drink alcohol, don't do drugs, don't smoke cigs, don't party, don't believe in God, etc. If they do it and it's relatively something that people have recently been changing their habits out of (not your case apparently from bein a vegan for 10 yrs though, but close enough) then they'll make an issue out of it as if WE'RE doing something stupid. Just because we had the willpower to change doesn't mean they need to pound us for doing it. I mean, I know quite a lot of ppl that want to be vegetarians, but they don't do it b/c they "cant" give up meat b/c it "tastes good" and it's a "habit." LAME. I don't drink alcohol and i don't like parties, but when I am at one to be w/ my friends and everyone but me is drinking.... I gots the whole place being "just take a sip;" "you're a square" blah blah blah.

I don't care at all what you eat. My experience has been the opposite. Vegetarians believing that by eating meat I am unhealthy. I think it is none of their business. Why do you care if people don't agree with you? Do you feel a little bit guilty or would like to comply with what others want you to do? It sometimes happens to me.

To be fair, it works the other way round too, I know veggies who do exactly the same thing. Hell, there are sites around the internet that proclaim all meat-eaters are phycopaths and should be locked up!
That said, it is always your choice and your right to do whatever you want.

Some people think that you can't be healthy on a pure vegetarian diet. And others just can't handle people being different.

In no way unless you live with them and shop for food (but not meat), try to force your lifestyle on them, etc.
It sounds like you need to have a little "talk" with your friends. :)

People are very nosey about each others habits, that does not mean ,I approve living only by the vegetables, but everyone should realise it by her/himself.

Your friends don't understand nutrition and they think you are missing protein/nutrients since you don't eat meat.
