This is totally not a slam or joke. My family eats Chinese food all the time, but we constantly wonder what the meat is. There are teriyaki sticks with strangely shaped meat on it and most of the other dishes have these little snips of meat in them. Anyone work in a chinese restaurant or work for one of the distributors?

It's best that you ask the cook where your family eat chinese food all the time. Stop the constant wondering.

Presumably the strips of meat are either beef (if they are dark brown, and chicken if they are light. Then there is the sweet sour pork, which is deep fried in batter, so you don't see the meats colour, but the taste is evidently different.
If you are not sure what the meat is ASK...

Remember in the orient other meats are also used...

The vietnamese for example, raise a certain breed of dog just for cooking
No stranger to them then frogs legs to westerners,
or even snails in certain european countries!
Some you wouldn't want to know!

They fry in peanut and sesame oil, use tons of MSG and probably just cut their meat differently. For instance my local Chinese buffet has roasted chicken, sliced. Like a whole chicken, with the bones but sliced. Who slices a whole chicken?
