I just ate some corn raw off the cob with no toppings. It was surprisingly tasty. I think I am starting to understand the wisdom of the raw diet. I feel full of energy and my head is clear. What is your exerience with raw corn such as how it tasted and made you feel.

Irritable, how do you know. Do you have a survey to back that up?

clarity, sometimes you just don't think about it because you are so used to it being served only one way.

justswimmin, you are so right. I have heard that any food cooked over 119 degrees starts to break done essencial enzymes you body can use instead of having to make its own, which by the way is taxing on your health.

PuttPutt, I am not opposed to these ideas though I still believe in washing my food if needed.

jenniferaboston, in the raw food diet you can still heat your food but no more than 119 degrees. Will this be enough to get the nutrients in the carrot to be more assimilatible, I don't know. I do know you can eat carrots raw and they still have many health benefits just the way they are.

I just heard today that the raw food diet is not all good. There are some vegetables (like carrots) that actually have vitamins and minerals that are not accessible until they are cooked. The key is to have a nice variety of cooked and raw foods. All or nothing diets are never healthy.

Yes! Some types of sweet corn (like XTRA Sweet, and Kandy Korn) are delicious straight off the cob! I am trying to eat as many "raw" fruits and veggies as I can right now---it really does make a difference in how you feel! I have loads of energy now! :0)

Sure, but I'd wash it first due to pesticide and weed controls applied. Yum. It just tastes good. But fresh from the field or your garden is best. You don't need any flavor boosters or condiments. Also when you cook it a lot of the nutrients and vitamins are cooked out of it.

Yeah, if it's sweet enough, you really can eat it raw. That's why you choose good corn and then just boil it for just long enough to turn the starch to sugar (like 5 minutes... I've never understood why some people think you need to boil corn forever.)

If you think that is tasty, try eating peas right out of the pod, carrots right out of the ground, and beans right off the plant! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
