All of the above answers are correct. Any of those STD's can be asymptomatic.

One that wasn't mentioned was herpes. Although there may be symptoms with the initial bout of herpes, the virus can lie undetected in the nervous system for years. Some people never have another symptom. Some have breakouts monthly. Others only break out under stress. The amount of discomfort or noticeable symtoms with the initial bout also varies greatly, so a man could possibly have had it without being aware of it. That being said, the folks I've known who have had it have said the blisters are extremely painful, but vary in intensity from breakout to breakout.

Best wishes, and see a doctor if you think you've been exposed.

Any of them if not treated! Syphillis is one that can have noticeable symtpoms after 20 years. Noticeable symtoms are neurolgoical (gait and other symptoms) Gonorrhea can also be treated. Viral infections are a different matter and are not treated nearly as easy! They can persist for a long time (HIV, Herpes etc.).
