:-) The pastry is what I'm really wondering about. The outside. Is there egg in it? Milk maybe? You never know?

the pattis(thats what the outside shell is called) are rolled out from a dough made of flour and water only.

meat fillings in the pattis are the only way to make non veg samosas.

Most samosas are either lentil or potato pea and those are vegan. You won't often find meat filled samosas, but check just in case. Outside of India people do all sorts of weird things with samosas. They are related btw to sambusa from east africa where Indian traders brought them.

Man, that girl ticked me off. You people! WTF does she mean? You have a right to know if your food has egg in it and etc. From what I know, samosas are vegan. I go to this nice place downtown Mil. and the whole restaurant is vegan. They make great samosas. So, I think they are but every place is different so I'd suggest asking wherever you go. I've grown accustomed to asking, asking, asking.

Well it depends what fillingyou use and what you cook them in.

Samosas are stuffed pastry triangles.

The usual fillings are either meat or vegetables,

If you have a vegetable filling and cook in vegetable oil they will be vegan,

very good question..ask when you buy them. one problem may be that, though india has an immense number of vegetarians, the general knowledge of vegan food aint exactly brilliant.most veggie hindus wont eat egg, but most drink milk. ask and be very specific. i mean, near me theres a great gujarati vegetarian restaurant..much is vegan..yet they put cheese in the samosas!!

my parents are from india so i would know haha..veggie samosas are fried breading(just like chicken nuggets or french fries accept different) around seasoned potatoes and green peas. yes they are vegetarian and the only things they deep fry are potatoes, cauliflower, onion etc. so yes vegetarian somasas are considered vegan.

Well, indian samosas normally do not contain any egg in the wrap. They are made of flour, water, salt and oil.

They depend because sometimes they put beef in them and sometimes vegetarian. If it is a hindu party than it is definetly vegi because of their religion. Otherwise, it's really a guessing game so you should open them up or wait till someone next to you gets one. Outside of the filling all it is is dough that is fried. Hope that helps...
