Many STD's can lead to infertility if they are not treated and left untreated for long periods of time. The most common STD's to do this are chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomonas. HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis B or C, gardnerella vaginalis (bacterial vaginosis) do not cause infertitliity.
If I were you, I would go to your doctor and have an STD profile performed which tests for all of the above diseases.
What causes the infertiilty is the scarring that occurs with chronic untreated STDs. In women, it causes scarring of the fallopian tubes which does not allow the sperm to travel up the fallopian tube where fertizilation of the egg takes place. These diseases can also cause what is called "pelvic inflammatory disease" which also leads to scarring. In men, the scarring can keep the sperm from traveling out of the body. but infertility due to chronic untreated STDs is far more common in women.
If you are infertile because of the scarring, there is in vitro fertilization to consider.
I hope this helped answer your questiona and alleviate some of your concerns.
Regards,
Warren Shaffer, M.D.

Some STDs can cause women and men to become sterile. This is usually if you don't treat the STD at all or wait too long to get treated for it. Once you become sterile, you really can't reverse it. I'm sure there are other ways to become pregnant, but you would have to talk to your doctor about it. They are more knowledgeable on this and would have a better explanation.

If left untreated chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause infertility.

Generally, a woman will become less fertile becuase of scarring in the fallopian tubes from an infection. You can probably still get pregnant, but this will increase your risk of an ectopic pregnancy. It is a good idea to talk with your doctor if you are planning to try to get pregnant, so you can talk about things like this and proper nutrition.

See your OBGYN for a pre-pregnancy screening. You may still have a chance, if you are honest with yourself and your Doc.
Good luck
