Very safe. I've been a Veggie all my life as were both my parents and grandparents. My mom was extremely athletic growing up and to this day she is as active as she can be. None of the vegetarians I know (and I know quite a few) is sicker than any of the omnivorous people I know. You're getting less saturated fat too, so it certainly helps with controling your weight and cholesterol.

No need to worry about protien. You can get that from a variety of sources, legumes, soy products, and beans and rice is a perfect protien too.

Be smart about it though... all veggies is a BAD DIET!

The only legitimate reason to be vegetarian or vegan is to avoid participating in the cruel & corrupt world of "factory farming". A Vegan diet is neither natural nor healthy.

If more vegitarians and vegans demanded "cruelty-free" meat products, there would be a bigger market, prices would come down, and everyone would win.

The only other option is to kill all the cows. If no-one drank milk or ate beef, we wouldn't need any of them, and they cannot "live wild"!

of course! there are cultures of people around the world who choose not to eat meat. i am currently a vegetarian. i used to be a vegan, but i was not healthy. it is possible to stay healthy as a vegan as long as you stay away from vegan junk food (aka fake meat, fake ice cream, etc...). But being a vegetarian is very safe. Justy be sure to eat enough protein (beans, nuts, whole grains, quality cheese...)

if you know what you're doing. sometimes people go veggie and stop eating protein. you need protein in your diet to survive. a lot of vegan and veggies become anemic and their blood thins. if you worry about it then you can take iron supplements to combat this. if you decide to go veggie you need to read up a little. try lots of meat alternatives that are high in protein. beans are an excellent source. tofu and other soy products have lots of good stuff for people who do not eat meat.
i think some people take the whole thing too far. it may be safe but i don;t think it's healthy to spend that much time thinking about what you eat. my friends sister is hardcore vegan and it just seems like a sad way to live when you are obsessed about your food. it's just that, FOOD. to me, it is an awful lot like any other eating disorder. some of them are obsessed with food.

It's safe if you eat a balanced diet that includes vegetables!! Sounds dumb but many people want to adopt a vegan or vegetarian lifestlye and exist on junk food and high fat cheeses etc... and they end up getting sick. You still need to consume proteins, carbs and fats to maintain a healthy diet.

Being a vegetarian is safe as far as you get all the nutrients, vitamins, protein, and everything necessary to be healthy. You have to know what food items would provide such nutrients and if you are willing to tolerate their flavor or smell.

Why wouldn't it be safe? What do you mean by safe? Safe how? As in will a robber come to the table and hold a gun to your head until you eat meat, safe? Or will the decorative plants rise up in solidarity with their eatable brethern and attack you, safe? What kind of question is this?

i don't think it's too safe we need red meat because it contains the certain amount of iron and 'energy' that vegies and fruit all that sort of stuff can sometimes lack.
i dont know too much about vegetarians but i do know that red meat is what everyone needs. but that could be just my opinion...
i may be wrong it's what i was told by a doctor

not without ALOT of work, which is why so many vegetarians look so unhealthy. Most people aren't willing to do the necessary research, they just stop eating animal products.
