Fish sauce is used in Thai food, not refrigerated

There is so much sodium in fish sauce, I doubt it ever "goes off". It has been used thousands of years longer than refrigerators have been in existence!

follow the link to a person who has been using the same bottle of nam pla (very sparingly, I assume!) for ELEVEN years!

Throw it out if it's more than 1600 years old, otherwise you're OK.

Seriously, fish sauce was popular in the Roman Empire (which fell 1600 years ago), when there was no refrigeration.

Ooooh, I miss my nam pla: ) And that had nothing to do with your question; ) Oops. I don't know what the shelf life is, but I can bet there isn't one. Sodium goes a long way...

if its not opened a year ot two if opened 1 mth..( UN refrigerated), 6 refrigerated

check the experation date on the bottle don;t always believe this means the prodect is no longergood it just means it ;snot fit to sell

If it's not been opened, it's probably still good. Nothign to go bad.

If it's been opened (and not refrig, as you say), then pitch it.

its so yummy u shouldnt need to know that.... the longer it sits on that shelf the sadder ur tummy gets! ;)
