Just knowing that your skin, hair and clothes don't smell like smoke is enough, but when you take a deep breath in and realize that you can breathe so much better and that you are no longer damaging your lungs would have to be the one of greatest feelings in the world!

Smoking is the bestest thing.

Unfortunately it is expensive and harmful to your health and the health of others.

I have quit smoking now for 11 years, 8 months and 2 days. In that time there has not been a single minute of a single day when I don't wish that I had a cigarette. I dont think I have beaten smoking. I just happen to be a smoker that hasn't had a cigarette now for 11 years, 8 months and 2 days (nearly 3 days now):

There is no good feeling from giving up smoking other than I have noticed that some people who claim to have beaten the weed acquire a self righteous belief that they are somewhere close to the right hand of God (and I bet she has a sly drag occasionally).

These people who have told u about saving money, sense of smell and clothes not stinking and no more mucus etc... are all spot on - it does feel great! But the feeling that tops all of that is the sense of pride you feel from doing something very difficult that not eveyone has the strength to do!!

I quit in jan 05 and I told myself it only had to be temporary (I think that really helped) because I was pregnant and it was just for a few months. But once I'd cracked it I never looked back! I NEVER want to smoke again! And although I now realise how horrible it would be for my baby 2 have 2 smell me even if I dont smoke in the house (YES SMOKERS ABSOLUTELY STINK) thats not the only reason I dont smoke anymore - its also 4 me because IT FEELS GREAT 2 B A NON-SMOKER!!!

My advice is
*do use nicotine replacement therapy (I used patches and they do take the edge off cravings)
*set a date in the future to work your way towards it
*dont throw away all cigs/ashtrays at 1st coz I found that if I COULDNT have 1 I wanted 1 more but if they were there I didnt panic!! (And I never gave in and had 1)
*do avoid smoking friends/pubs/cafes-just 4 a few wks/months (it doesnt need to b 4eva- I can easily watch people smoke now and all it does is annoy me that it stinks!!!)

And just to go back 2 your original Q -

IT FEELS AMAZING!!!!!

And people who try to put u off do so coz they cant give up themselves so they dont want u2. Would make them feel even worse WHEN u succeed!

It's not something you're going to feel right away, and it's not easy to do. But be patient and don't give up...it's worth it!

However, first thing you're going to notice is that your sense of smell will be enhanced.
Not only will things smell much better, but YOU won't smell. Some people won't date smokers. Non smokers hate to be around smokers because (sorry, but it's true) when they get home they have to wash their hair, and their clothes because they smell like smoke. When you stop, you're going to notice how strong the smell is.
Another thing: kissing a smoker is like kissing an ashtray...UGH!

Smoking causes cancer (not only yours but the people you love who live with you) and increases your risk for a heart attack or a stroke....so if only for those reasons, you should do it.

How much do you spend on smoking a year? You could go on a great vacation or anything else you can't afford to do now because your money is going out of your pocket and up your lungs.

And lastly, think about the whole thing of addiction. Do you want an unhealthy smelly habit controlling your life? Tought talk, but true.

Good luck! I've done it, and so have millions of others. You can too! If you try and need help, here's a link to nicotine anonymous, which is a great support group.

I think the feeling is pretty good...firstly there's the feeling of not spending £30 plus a week on nothing...
Then there's the feeling of not feeling deprived when you're on a plane/train/taxi and lighting up the minute you get off...
Then there's the feeling that when someone gives you a kiss you don't stink.
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west...oh no, that's Led Zep, hang on lets get back on track here..
There's the feeling of your mouth feeling fresher in the morning when you get up rather than tasting like a stale ashtray.
There's the feeling that most people who smoke would like to be able to give up like you have. (That's a good one...)
But the best feeling of all is that you have actually done it...you've stopped smoking!!!

I never felt better since i stoped smoking. I stop in DEC 05 and I'm not looking back. my taste and smell have got better and i can not stand to be near smokers anymore so i know how other non smokers felt now when i smoked. But best of all is the money,. In the 7month Ive stoped Ive saved and put away over £2,800 that was £400 a month i used spend on cigs, that Ive saved on that i would have spent on cigs, and now I'm spending that towards my Holiday that I'm normally struggling to pay for but now i got more spending money then normal. It scary to think just how much i did spend in over 15Y's of smoking.

Quitting smoking is a wonderful thing. Though the symptoms of withdrawal can be nagging, you have the knowledge that you have done without a doubt the best thing you can do to SAVE YOUR LIFE. Your clothes and your home will smell better. You will smell better. And your sense of smell will improve dramatically. Be careful not to overeat now that you can smell just how wonderful food is!

It's better, but not a lot better. The good feeling you get is comparable to smoking a cigarette.

Feels rubbish. And don't think you'll save money either. You won't. You'll just spend it on other rubbish as a replacement for fags. By the time your body is back to normal, so much time will have passed that you will not notice the bennefits.

Sorry love.
