Asthma is caused by a variety of things, allergies, irritants, cold air, exercise, exercise in cold air, pollution, ozone, poor air quality...what causes yours? You need to stay away from or not do those things that trigger it. Move to a dry arid environment with little to no plant life(the desert (Arizona)), no pets, have hardwood floors no carpet, hypoallergenic sheets and pillows. Some foods trigger asthma, acid-reflux can trigger asthma, do you have heart burn when you eat too much? Even if you don't you may still have acid reflux. Your airways are becoming irritated by something. I have had asthma since I was six. I took meds for years, still have emergency meds, I grew out of most of it. Do you have a maintenance inhaler, and do you use it regularly? Some Chinese teas are good for respiratory health, I have used some in the past, with good results. Proper hydration and sleep are also important. I doubt you were actually born asthmatic, it developed over time, by the way.

im sorry, but there is no cure for asthma -- there are therapeutic ways that you can work around it to help you tolerate the condition better.
can you pinpoint what triggers your asthma? number 1 thing to do is to avoid them.
if your asthma is becoming more and more frequent, maybe you need to see your family doctor to do tests on you and see if it's time to put you on corticosteroids -- they help you tolerate the allergens.
another option is the guy above suggested which is desensitization. my sister had a bad case of asthma when it comes to dust so we brought her to an allergy specialist and every week the doctor would inject a tolerable dosage of the allergen (dust -- not the actual dust, but the chemical that triggers the asthma) followed by a nebulizer therapy because this will trigger the asthma. it's like the doctor is trying to make you immune to the allergen. after a few weeks, when the body starts recognizing these allergens, the doctor injects a stronger dosage, and so on until you adapt or become immune to the allergen therefore helping you tolerate it more. it's quite costly, but the effects are for long periods of time, or even permanent. this is good for asthma sufferers whose attacks are so severe and they cannot avoid that allergen that constantly surrounds them.
if you have insurance, hopefully this will cover it.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.
I cured my Asthma the natural way?

As an alternative therapy, you might try acupuncture. It has had some benefits in those with a variety of allergies, and since asthma is a type of allergic response, it might just help out a bit.

In many cases, asthma is aggrivated, if not caused, by allergies. Dust is the most common culprit, so turning your house and especially your bedroom into a dust-free zone is often effective at reducing symptoms. Start by replacing your carpet with a laminate, airing your duvet daily and get non-fabric blinds which can be easily dusted. Hoover daily and think seriously about the severity of your symptoms if you have any pets with fur, especially cats.

Dr. Batmanheldi in his book, "Your not sick, your thirsty. Your bodies many cries for water" suggests many of our health problems are due to lack of hydration. He points out that the lungs have postules that have a small amount of water in them that help us breathe. The brain takes first priority over water consumption and when the body is dehydrated, the brain will start pulling water from less essential areas. When the brain takes the water from the lungs, it will close up the lungs to reserve water. Try drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, ex: 150lbs = 75 ounces daily.
The kind of water can make a difference as well. The cluster size of water needs to be small enough to get into the cells and hydrate. Tap water and most bottled water do not do that. Try a bottled water from the health food store like Penta or Smart water. They are expensive. You can make you own for less though with a treatment system. I recommend this one http://www.yourwellnesshome.net/productinfo/water.html

There isn't a cure but there are ways to have less symptoms your allergist can find out if you are allergies and treat you for those allergies and that should lessen your episodes. Also acupuncture is very good.
