The normal therapy for a broken toe is to secure it to adjacent toes. The fact that you're a Type 2 diabetic is cause for concern. You should see your endocrinologist to be on the safe side because of possible internal injury that you can not see. A simple x-ray will determine any additional treatments. You can not tell if you have additional involvement until you get x-ray done. Any additional meds will have to take you diabetes into account.

Is this pain from the broken toe or separate from it? It could be the beginnings of neuropathy which is treatable (but not curable). If it's from the broken toe, it should subside over time. Depending on your diabetes control, the toe may take slightly longer to heal. Bottom line: see the doc

All diabetics must be very careful when it comes to their feet and legs. You should go for a check up on your feet and legs. Have you noticed any discoloration in your legs/feet? Any swelling other than the swelling of the broken toe? Go to your Dr. right away.
