This might be a really stupid question but can you buy tofu from places like Walmart or Albertsons? Or do you have to find it at health food stores? Also what are the best ways to cook it? I would love for any of you to include great recipes!

almost all gorcery stores carry some form of tofu. i recommend the medium to firm. an easy recipie i learned from my mom is tofu tacos. just take a block of tofu and cut into small cubes. add some of your favorite salsa and cook in a frying pan. the tofu will look like red scrambled eggs when you are done. put it in taco shells or burritos or anything you like really. it's good in breakfast burritos. add chesse or whatever you want on top. yummy.

Tofu can be found in almost any store that sells groceries, including Super Walmart. It is usually somewhere around the produce area.
I am a vegetarian and we eat LOTS of tofu. I would be happy to send some recipes to you. If you want to send me your email address, then I wont have to take up a bunch of room on here with the recipes.
Let me know what you like and I'll send you a recipe!
Just as a general suggestion, you can substitute tofu into any recipe that calls for chicken! :)

My Favorite Tofu Recipe:
~Firm or Extra Firm Tofu cut into slices
~Mix 2 TB Tahini with Soy Sauce to taste and water to form a paste
~Coat the Tofu with the Tahini mixture
~Sprinkle the Tofu/Tahini with Sesame Seeds
~Cook over med heat in using peanut oil or cooking spray
~Remove from pan
~In same pan, stir fry some broccoli in soy sauce with a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Fast and delish!
And yes, Wally world does carry tofu. However, I find this recipe tastes better with "silken" tofu, which is only carried at the health food store where I live.

why would u go to walmart for grocery shopping, know getting snack food, or what I call novoty foods there is another thing, but go to your grocery store, they may sell tofu, and it doesnt have to be a health food store, just make sure your getting the right tofu for what your cooking, soft tofu is normally added to deserts, and firm tofu is that good meaty savory tofu, that taste like chicken if cooked right

tofu is toe fooey. Another of those touted products that has since been proven as a lie. I went to a nutritionist and attended a soy and tofu convention to tast these products every way possible. Cra-p Cra-p and More cra-p. Lots were edible but none had proper flavor and texture relatable to any natural porduct. And don't call them natural until you learn how soybeans are processed.

Yes, Walmart has it. They stock Nasoya Soft, Lite (as in calorie, lite) Firm, Extra-Firm, and pre-cubed. All are made with organic soybeans. They cost roughly $1.80 a package. I'd recommend the Lite Firm as you can still stir-fry with it (like the Extra Firm) but it's loaded with more vitamins and minerals than any other kind.

You can find tofu at most grocery stores (Ralphs and Vons have them for sure), but I'm not sure about Wal-Mart.
