A vegetarian doesn't eat meat, but eats things that have
both eggs and dairy.

A vegan is a vegetarian that will not eat or use any animal products: no eggs, no dairy, no honey... only things that are from plants and animals didn't make. They also won't wear wool or use any product that has bi-products in it that come from animals... basically everything from soap to clothes to food has to be simply plant-based.

Vegan ==> Eats nothing from animal source (ie, no egg,no meat,no fish, no milk )

Vegetarian ==> Can be either lacto vegetaian, ovo vegetarian or ovo-lacto vegetarian
Lacto vegetarian ==> Eats nothing from animal source except milk and milk products
Ovo vegetarian ==> Eats nothing from animal source except eggs
Ovo-Lacto vegetarian ==> Eats nothing from animal source except milk and egg products

However, most of the vegetarians (all categories) consume honey, where as vegans mostly do not

Most of the vegetarians in India (with a big percent of population are vegetarians) are Lacto vegetarians

In addition to not eating anything that was once connected to an animal, vegans also abstain from wearing clothing made from leather, silk, or wool. Honey is also off limits, since it wouldn't be available without the bees. I know a vegan who took the leather seats out of a used car that he bought and replaced them with cloth upholstery!!
