Vegetarians live 10 years longer on average.
You will be healthier because you won't be eating fat from other animals.
You get better protien as a vegetarian through soy.
You aren't contributing as much to global warming and stuff (I seriously read an article somewhere about how much pollution our bodies give off and far vegetartians its a heck of a lot less)
Farmers are plowing down the rainforest to raise their animals and they have to leave that farmland after a while because all the nutrients get used up, but with a certain type of farming you could use the land for much longer. Vegetarians save an acre of rainforest a year.
You cut your risk of cancer in half.
57% less chance of getting coronory heart disease.
Lower cholesterol.
20-30% less chance of having a stroke.
A life long vegitarian saves around 760 chickens, 5 cows, 20 pigs, 29 sheep, 46 turkeys, 15 ducks, 7 rabbits and over half a tonne of fish.

Being a vegetarian for me means not eating flesh. The reason being that human body is not made to eat and digest meat. Its dental and digestive system are for a herbivorous diet.
Being vegetarian has some benefits over non vegetarian diet.
1) It is healthy. There is reduced risk of many chronic disease like -
Diabetes, heart disease, obesity.
2) If adequate pulse, legumes, grains, fruits and vegetables are eaten they provides easy source of all dietry requirements.
3) Since body digests vegetarian food easily you do not have discomfort associated with overeating non vegetarian food.
4) It leads to a better connection between an individual and nature. Has a component of spirtuality to it.

Hey, do you veggies realise than without cholesterol we would die, and that consequently the less we get from meat the more our body creates itself? The end result is that despite veggies eating less cholesterol they end up with the same levels in the blood. The only reason veggies are less likely, and it's only very slightly less likely, have heart troubles is that they are also more likely to be health conscious, there are few slobbish veggies, because slobs wouldn't become veggies.
Do you also realise that our body IS adapted and evolved to eat and digest meat? It evolved to eat plants too, but not exclusively. In the wild a human could not survive without meat, he wouldn't have the benefit of popping into a supermarket to make sure he had a wide range of fruits to create a balanced diet. We need some of the things in meat that can't be got anywhere else, like some types of protein, and some vitamins and minerals.
The studies which say veggies live longer ignores the fact that veggies are also less likely to smoke, binge drink and are generally more health conscious, because they need to be.
There are no benefits, per se, most of the ones that places like PETA tell you cannot be substantiated.

Being a vegetarian can be quite healthy, so long as you're getting adequate protein from non-meat sources like legumes and soy protein. And a lot of vegetarians think they're eating healthy because of all of the vegetables, but they eat a lot of junk food as well, which isn't so good.

being a vegetarian will make you a more healthier person mentally. you are far from all the tapeworms and all the extra fat we usually get from almost all meats. you will have the required physical strength for daily plain life although you don't eat meat.
