He is developing complications from diabetes because he is letting it run uncontrolled. Only your husband can take control of his diabetes, you can't make him. When he can't take the pain anymore or the complications make him blind or on dialysis, hopefully before the worst happens, he will decide to do something about it. Until then good luck.

Your husband should go to his Endocrnologist or Primary physician right away. It appears he is suffering from complication from the diabetes, nueropathy which is effecting the nerves in his body eg pain in legs; the blurry of his sight is a direct cause of the diabetes the vessels in his eyes are swelling and eventually can burst causing blindness. He needs to go for a complete physical NOW or he is going to develop other ocmplications or die. PLEASE PLEASE Take him to the DR.!.

Does he not know that he needs to take his meds? Is he controlling what he eats? He needs to watch his carb intake and eat low glycemic index foods. There are lots of books out there.

My son is a type 1 diabetic and he refused to take care of himself and for the last 11 weeks has been in horrible pain with his feet, needle pricks all over, stabbing pains (said feels like someone is stabbing him in his feet with a knife) and now horrible burning. The Methadone and Hydrocodine isn't even helping the burning one little bit. He cries practically non stop day and night and can hardly sleep for the pain. He puts his feet in cold water and tries to sleep that way because that's the only thing that gives him some relief. Now his feet are swelling and we think his kidney's might be having problems.

Type 2 can be controlled by diet, I would welcome only having to worry about what my son ate and not about tesing 5-8 times a day, 3+ shots of short acting insulin and 1 of long acting. If readings go high then he has to take more shots of the short acting to bring it down.

He is now having problems with deficating and urinating.

All of this because he was not doing what he was supposed to do. My sons not yet 20.

I listened to other people and tried to let him do what he was supposed to be doing and now I am spending most of my free time taking care of him and listening to him cry with pain.

Let your husband see this: Please, Please take care of yourself and do what you need to do to control your diabetes, the future is only going to bet worse and worse if you don't.

I know what your wife is going thru, it is heart wrenching to watch your loved one ruin their health!!

If you think taking your meds and watching what you eat is bad wait until you cannot get out of bed because of the pain in your feet, toes, legs, etc are so horrible.

Praying for you! :0)

In order to keep your blood sugar level under control, read the following paragraph to update your knowledge about diabetes:

You need not to panic to visit a doctor. There are no Allopathic medicines available in the market that will cure the diabetic conditions of humans but they will control the disorder up to certain levels. The disease is developed due to eating disorders and hereditary. In the first place, I have never accepted diabetes as disease but considered it to be a disorder. The medicine is readily available at home in the form of natural products and you need not to go to market to purchase expensive medicines. To keep the sugar level under control, follow my suggestions and see the difference. Drink the juice of one bitter gourd, one cucumber and one tomato on empty stomach in the morning on a regular basis (drink this juice twice a day if you are insulin dependent) until you start feeling relief and your blood sugar level starts decreasing and continue further for a very long time until your sugar level reaches border line. The sugar level will certainly come down. Eat plenty of cucumber before meal to quench your thrust and to fill your empty stomach. Cucumbers are considered and proved to be very good for diabetic patients. Diabetic patients are always hungry to eat but can not eat all. Avoid banana, mango, custard apple and sweets like ice cream, pastry and cold drinks totally. If you are insulin dependent, even eating rice would be very harmful. You can eat fruits like guava, pineapple, pomegranate, papaya, muskmelon and watermelon. Taking one tea-spoon Fenugreek powder and quarter tea-spoon cinnamon powder on empty stomach, before breakfast daily, would be beneficial to diabetic patients. Regular brisk walking for one hour daily would be the best ideal medicine for diabetic patients. Cut down on non-vegetarian, fast, spicy and oily food, aerated cold drinks and foods rich in calories. Correct constipation. Avoid alcohol and tobacco also. Tea and coffee are also bad for health because they promote calcium excretion from the body and calcium loss from bones. Drink plenty of water daily. Take one tablet of Diabecon (By Himalaya an Herbal Health Care Company in India) twice a day as a maintenance dose. Take care and be in good health.
