They can become very ill, but these days that doesn't always happen, as they become very aware of their health and compensate a lot. It can still have very bad effects on children though, because it deprives them of the protein they need for growth and development.

The statistics that say that veggies live longer/have less chance of x disease are flawed, because they fairly to take into account that people who lead the most unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, binge drinking, junk food every day, etc) don't become veggies, and your average veggie is going to be more health conscious than your average omnivore.

None of the reasons that people like PETA give about veggies and health hold any amount of water when under scrutiny. Even the widely held belief that meat-eaters have higher cholesterol is flawed, because if you don't obtain cholesterol from your diet your body creates its own for you, as cholesterol is vital for our living more than a few seconds. Thus, although meat eaters eat more cholesterol, they have no higher blood levels than vegans; assuming that other than eating meat, eggs and dairy produce they lead the same lifestyle.

Depends on their eating habits. It is my believe that a vegetarian that eats optimally will be more healthy than a omnivore who eats optimally. There of course may been factors like genetics which can influence the equation. I believe my statement would apply to most peoples unless they were Eskimo or somewhere along those lines.

As for the most healthy vegetarian diet I would say probably a raw foods diet that is varied as much as possible. Getting as far away from refined foods as reasonably possible is one of the best things you can do for your diet.

Other dietary factors include getting a balance of carbs, fats, and protein. Often vegetarians are protein deficient but when you eat raw your body acquires and can use more of its own enzymes efficiently assimilate the vast majority of the nutrients in-taken.

Some meat eaters also look sick. The only way to stay and look healthy is to eat healthy foods and get enough of them. I get my recommended amount of protein a day very easily on a vegetarian diet. Protein is the easiest thing to get! I also eat whole grains, fruits and veggies.

No they do not. Animals were put here to be eaten. That is how and why we as a species have gotten as far as we have. If all our ancestors ate was vegetables and fruits and the such we would be like the cows. Food for some intelligent critter descended from cats or dogs. Not a way I want to turn out. Vegans will weed themselves out eventually anyway. We are not designed to live without proteins from meat. Eat a nice lean steak and you will feel much better.

If they eat lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains and make sure they get some protein from sources like soy and other beans, they are healthy. Too many people say they are vegetarian and what they mean is a pasta and cheese-atarian. That's not healthy eating.

Vegetarians are like anyone else, if they have a healthy well balanced diet and get exercise they will be healthier, If they eat cookies and potato chips all day and sit around watching TV they will not be healthy.

My parents have been vegs for 20 years, they are way healthier than most their age, both are over 60, ride bikes everyday and work out. They have started to eat chicken some and eat fish once in a while as well.

I was a veg for awhile and I was the healthiest I have ever been, I should go back but its hard being single and a veg, don't know or like to cook veg food and you can only eat so many boca burgers, beans and salad.

coz you always need a balanced meal. . .

you wouldnt get some of the minerals that are mostly found in meat. . . .
like protein. . . .
they have it in tofu. . . .
but not very good source as meat. . . . .
but if you do wanna be a vegetarian or if you are a vegetarian. . .
you could try eating rice with beans.....
their nutrition content is almost as similar as meat when you eat them together. . .. .
