okay i have penumonia. late march i got really sick. like severely and i went to the doctor and they diagnosed it pneumonia. they gave me a website where i could find more information about it and it said that if you have recovered, but then suffer of a relapse, that the relapse will be more serious than the first time you got sick. how could it get any worse if i was already experiencing severe symptoms?

the second time around would be much worse b/c your body is already immuno compromised from having the infection to begin with....

there are several strains of pneumonia and the viral strain of it mutates-which means it changes so eventhough you've already had pneumonia-you could come in contact with a different strain-causing you to become more infected.

also b/c your immune system is trying to fight off the initial infection you caught-it is more open to being re-infected by new germs

I had pneumonia in 1994. I almost died. I had viral and bacterial both strains simutaneously and I had double pneumonia. All parts of my lungs. The worst was in my lower left lung. I have induced asthma now. Everytime the weather gets cold, I start wheezing or if i exercise too much and overdue it especially outdoors like working with my garden.

You can get pneumonia again, yes. Take care of yourself. Build your immunities! Eat right, exercise daily and don't do foolish things like go out without your shirt in the snow.

Warm dry climates are healthy for you too, so if you can move to a warm dry climate, this would be healthier for you. Beach climates are not good for you. I used to live near a beach climate and moved because of this.

One, you might not live through a more severe bout - pneumonia still kills people. We are accustomed to recovering from everything these days. Bacterial infections used to regularly kill people...and still to some extent do.

Two, you might have a more resistent strain that does not easily respond to antibiotics, which contributes to the above.
