My question is, lets say someone has Diabetes, but doesnt know they have it unless they experience symptoms, but let's say they consume a sugary food ( such as chocolate or fruit juice)....would they experience any physical abnormalities after ingestion when the blood/ glucose level sky rockets...such as sickness, nausea, and/ or vomiting and fainting?

Yes, they will feel light-headed. After extended exposure to too much sugar, their urine will smell sweet and fruity. And they will pee A LOT. Their breath will be sweet and fruity too.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.

There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.

In order to determine whether or not a patient has pre-diabetes or diabetes, health care providers conduct a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test (FPG) or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Either test can be used to diagnose pre-diabetes or diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends the FPG because it is easier, faster, and less expensive to perform.

With the FPG test, a fasting blood glucose level between 100 and 125 mg/dl signals pre-diabetes. A person with a fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dl or higher has diabetes.

In the OGTT test, a person's blood glucose level is measured after a fast and two hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage. If the two-hour blood glucose level is between 140 and 199 mg/dl, the person tested has pre-diabetes. If the two-hour blood glucose level is at 200 mg/dl or higher, the person tested has diabetes.

Check out the diabetes website.

yes, its called Hyperglycemia. You will feel shaky, nauseated, hot and flushed, possibly confused, very thirsty. If you are diabetic, do not consume large amounts of sugar. Check your blood glucose with a glucometer, ( you can buy one at any pharmacy) and check it often, before meals and at bedtime. Call your doctor and get in to be seen asap, learning the things you need to live with diabetes is extensive and requires much more than we on the internet can teach you. Good luck.

Yes they will, Some of the ones I have experienced is Nausea and Vomiting , extreme thirst , Having to urinate alot, Sleppiness , And if Blood sugars get high enough it can put you into a diabetic coma. ( which can result in death). And since each person is different they may have different symptoms.

Most diabetics, myself included, need to stay away from carbs. Sugar itself is not the enemy. If you ate/drank the wrong thing and you're blood sugar is high, you may feel nauseous. You may have blurred vision and feel off. People that faint are going into a diabetic coma and that is when the blood sugar goes too low.

Yes, it is possible. Even something as extreme as diabetic coma could occur. If someone is experiencing symptoms, he/she needs to get checked by a doctor. Diabetes is nothing to fart around with.

yes you could have all of the above....you could even go as far as a diabetic coma. if you don't know that you have dieabetes it is possible you wouldn't really put 2 and 2 together that your sugars went sky high.

If they ingest enough, they could have a seizure, and if they are diabetic, they will start to feel a surge in their blood and dizzy, light-headed, etc.
