I like the texture. Since it takes on the flavor of whatever food it is cooked with, it doesn't have to be bland. I'm not vegetarian, but I eat a few meatless meals a week, and tofu is a tasty way to get protein.

Where I live we can find 3 types:
Plain which is similar to a fresh white pressed curd cheese, a little bland...But goes well diced in a salad...the dressing gives it a lift.
Then there is the italian flavoured one, which has pimento, oregano and some other spices in it...quite nice on its own.
and the 3rd. is smoked. Also good on its own...tastes really great scrambled with spinach!

If you want something sweet but you want it to be healthy
get a graham cracker crust pie thing and then blend tofu and milk until it is creamy. Put in the mixer with Banana cream pudding mix. the strong banana taste kills the tofu. Put banana slices in the pie crust and pour the mixture over it. The top it off with low fat cool whip. Top with toasted almonds.
it is rich and creamy and really healthy

It is good in banana shakes with low fat milk drop in about a 1/2 cup and blend or use strawberries.
Stays with you all morning. To eat plain no way!
Get the softest one and rinse it off. Not the firm

It depends on how it's prepared. It IS kind of bland by itself & takes on the flavor of whatever it's cooked with. I've eaten it diced & cooked with vegetables & thought it was delicious. BTW, I'm not a vegetarian or health-food nut.

I love Tofu mainly in Thai dishes. Tofu needs a dressing for me to consume otherwise it's a little boring.

Love it cooked every way, especially the junky way which is deep fried and then tossed in a dish with either pork or chicken in a spicy sweet & sour tomato based sauce.

I like the soft fresh tofu chilled with maple syrup poured over it.

If it's cooked well, it's great! So, I should say, if it's cooked by anyone but me, it's great!! I can never seem to get enough water out of it to soak up the flavors of the dish that I'm cooking.

I think some people don't like it because they think it's supposed to be a meat substitute, but that's just silly. It's not supposed to taste like meat at all, and it doesn't. And for what it's supposed to taste like, it tastes just fine.

I like it in hot and sour soup and in ma pa tofu. It really needs to be in a tasty sauce because it takes on the flavor of what it is cooked with.

i love tofu! It's very good with a lot of different foods. If you don't like the texture, try making a asian stiry-fry with bean sprouts, veggies and some very good sauces. A variety of good sauces include a brand named LEE KUM KEE. www. LKKUSA.com. Check it out!
