Technically being vegetarian means you do not eat fish. The actual term is Pescatarian. That means you don't eat any other animal except fish.

"Pescatarian is a more recent term and may or may not be considered a degree of vegetarianism. Pescatarians will eat fish, shellfish and crustacea, but no meat, poultry, game or slaughter by-products. They are not considered to be a "true" vegetarian, by most vegetarian's standards, but some consider themselves to be. In fact, some vegetarians are rather hostile to pescatarians. For example, the person who runs Swabe.org says that they can "in no way be seen as adequately adhering to the vegetarian ethic".

Ovo-lacto-pescatarians (or ova-lacto, as I've also seen it) will eat eggs and milk, and those who do make up the majority of the group. Health wise, pescatarians don't have to worry about getting vitamin B12 as much as straight out vegetarians."

Can Vegetarians Eat Fish

Some vegetarians eat fish, some also eat chicken. Go figure. It all depends on what YOU believe a vegetarian is, and what's possible for you at this stage in your life. When I was living with my meat eating parents, there was no way I could have lived if I hadn't eaten fish, because I wasn't allowed to cook. (It's not proper for young ladies of the house.) They wouldn't cook completely vegetarian stuff either. But now that I'm on my own, I don't eat it because it goes against my values.

Yes, they can eat fish perfectly well without any repercussions, apart from that they aren't veggie any more.

A high fish diet is healthier than either a vegan, veggie or normal meat-eating diet, so for health reasons I'd recommend anyone thinking of becoming veggie, even if you aren't, to keep with fish.

That said, a meat-eating diet is healthier than a vegan or veggie diet, as there are many proteins, minerals and vitamins that can only be found, or at least only in forms that the body can use, in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products.

Ludicrous as it sounds, I have known some vegetarians who make an exception for fish. However, strictly speaking, a vegetarian should only eat vegetables. Vegans, by contrast, eat no animal products at all, meaning no milk or cheese.

Some people call themselves vegetarians even if they eat seafood. I feel that this simply makes them a meat eater who is picky about what animals they eat. A fish is considered an animal - their flesh is different from other animals, but they are still animals - which makes them meat.
You can't be a vegetarian if you eat meat.

Some vegetarians DO.Other vegetarians do not. There are several different types.

I am a vegetarian and I do NOT eat fish. Nor anything that comes from the actualy body of the animal. No gelatin, rennet, lard, etc.

No. It's an oxymoron. Vegetarians don't eat meat, fish is meat.
