I know it can be difficult when you live with a meat eating family. I would say it is easier to wait until you have your own place and in the mean time stay aware of environmental issues

I've been a vegetarian for over 15 years. None of my family or friends are. I didn't become one to try and make them stop. It is a personal choice and one that is definately in the minority. If you are prepared to make that choice, you have to be prepared to do your own food planning and preparation. It isn't easy, but it is doable. They have the right to want to eat meat as much as you do not to want it. You can't become a vegetairan and expect OTHERS to stop because you don't want it. Do it for you. And also be prepared for the fact that once you do, it isn't for everyone. Going back to eating meat is ok too. It is all up to you! Good luck!

I am a vegetarian and taking steps everyday to become vegan.. It's the best decision I ever made.. I have never been more healthy.. I am not over weight and look great! I am not contributing to animal suffering so I have more peace with myself. You do not have to eat meat to stay healthy:)

My family all eats and cooks meat and I am a vegetarian. It would just mean that you have to take more responsibility for what you eat and you might have to cook your own food every once in a while... You need to be sure to get protein so I would suggest that you eat like boca stuff that you can just microwave

I am a vegetarian (for animal rights reasons) even though my family eats meat. A lot of nights i'm stuck making my own dinner while they eat their meat dish. If you can get your family to respect your decision it'll make it much easier. Just explain to them your thinking and perhaps print off information to back up your thinking (try www.peta2.com ). Or maybe your family does support you just because it's you choice.

It is a personal choice. You can stop eating meat, even if your family doesn't stop. It all depends on how much you really want to be vegetarian.

Becoming a vegetarian is your choice, and if your family won't change then that's up to them. It does sound like you can become one, try it for a week and if it works then go on and be a vegetarian. In the end it is up to you.

if you truly believe in animal rights, you should become a vegetarian. its hard if your family still eats meat, but you have to work around it. its hard but not impossible.

Not if you value your health.
I can't be bothered to explain, the reasons are quite complex, so I'll just refer you to here:
