Depends on the capacity of your stomach!

The most I ever had in one meal was 60!

Just eat until you're full. Sushi is pretty much healthy so you don't need to worry too much about fat. I love sushi so I always eat like 3 rolls at the most and there is usually 6 to 8 pieces in each roll

Watch a Japanese person eat and you will learn the etiquette. I think Americans probably freak Japanese people out the way we eat. Major observations
Eating rolls/nigiri sushi with chop sticks- it's a finger food
Dunking rolls in soy- Rice should never touch soy sauce.
Wasabi bombs.
Passing food with chop sticks- If you must pass use the opposite end of the stick
Eating nigiri sushi upside down- You're suppose to eat it fish side to the tongue and only the little tail piece of fish goes into the soy.
Portions-we overdue it.

Source- Friend went to work for a Japanese firm and had to learn tpropper table manners so he bought a book. I read the same book.

I suppose it depends upon your appetite and the size of the sushi pieces. The most I've ever eaten in a sitting is 8 pieces.

It seems like there's never enough sushi! I'd say you've had too many when everyone else at the table only had one piece.

I've had 36 in the same sitting once and could have had another 36 but didn't want to appear like a pig.. plus the pocket book gets squeezed a bit when your paying for 70 pieces....

No such thing as too many for me! I love sushi so much, I could probably eat it every single day if I could afford to.
