I'm tired all the time. My heart rate goes up for no reason; anytime, all day or not with pain that I can only describe as a vice grip around my heart (think The Frighteners w/ Michael J Fox). I've been to cardiologist that say it's caffeine, which I don't do much of (1/2 cup of decaf coffee every other day before a month ago and none for that last month). Doctors’ say I'm paranoid b/c I am so young, that I have nothing to worry about. My mother died of cardio-pulmonary hypertension when she was 21. I am 26. I do not think it’s that, Not even that my health in danger. I just want to know what it may be. They listen to my heart or run me on a treadmill and if I don't die; they say you're fine. This can't be normal. My blood pressure is always about the same, actually low for my size, but they say that is normal for me. This has been since I was 12, I am still pretty active. I drink lots of water, back then that was all I drank. My thyroid is fine according to tests.

First of all, be a good consumer of healthcare, don't accept answers that tell you it's nothing. You have lived in your body longer than anyone else so don't let them bully you if they don't have answers.
A heart cath will tell you if you have blockages. If pulmonary hypertension runs in your family, a heart cath or echo-cardiogram will give you some more clues.
Sometimes fatigue is due to de-conditioning. How active are you? How many METs were you able to achieve on the treadmill tests. Have you worn a 24 hour event monitor? Do you have panic attacks? Sometimes an EP study will show abnormal heart rhythms. EP means electrophysiology--a test where they evaluate your electrical conduction system in your heart. Don't let them tell you that you are young and there's nothing wrong. Unfortunately, sometimes, modern medicine thinks that only old people get sick. Good Luck and feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

Lia is correct about finding a doc that will perform an Electrophysiology study. I too had a very rapid, but in rhythm, heartbeat that was never caught on ECG, but as I have another type of heart problem, my EP decided on an EP study to check it out. During the test, he found I definitely had SVT (supraventricular tachycardia = rapid heartbeat). He then did an ablation there & then, & I've had no trouble since! Ask for this study.

well if you are having stress tests on a treadmill they ought to pick up any common problems, but yeah like others have said get another opinion if you feel you need it.

I started having heart attacks at 36, I'm 47 now, have heart failure from the earlier attacks, but I survived 7 of those suckers. Fatigue from the heart failure is something I just have to live with.

If you are worried about your heart, get a second and or a 3rd opinion. Not all doctors are always right. My cardiologist does regular echograms and tells me everything. I am 34 and almost died with a cardiomyopathy, its possible, but not real probable. I think you are worried for nothing, they would love to do more work on you and make more money if they thought they could justify it.

Speak to your doctor. Don't seek medical advice from strangers on a website.

Keep going to doctors until you find one that is willing to delve a little deeper. You know your body; if you think something is wrong, fight for it.
