In simple terms Asthma is an inflammation of the airways(bronchiols) of the lungs - making it difficult to breathe. Someone with asthma often coughs a lot and wheezes when they breathe. It is often triggered by allergies and environmental factors like cigarette smoke. It can be life threatening.
