This answer is in response to your question posted on yahoo about gonorrhea and syphilis.
There are so many other types STD's (sexually transmitted diseases).
Gonorrhea (caused by a bacteria called Neiserria gonorrheae) and syphilis (caused by a treponemal organism)
Both of these are on the rise and gonorrhea is becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics.
The symptoms of gonorrhea, if present are painful urination (burning upon urinating), a thick yellow to white oozing discharge from the penis. In women often there are no symptoms. In syphilis there is no symptoms initially. One may notice a little sore on the penis, vagina, mouth, throat, anus which is completely painless. It is called a "chancre". Being painless this is how physicans tell the difference between a chancre and herpes. Herpes sores are excrutiatingly painful.
Then you have other stds. Chlamydia infection (the most common std in the U.S. today) often has no symptoms therefore it is widely spread and cannot be contained. People can go years without even knowning they have it and by that time it can already have caused sterility in both males and females. It can also cause pelvic inflammatory disease in women, which can be life threatening if not treated.
Another std is trichomonas which is not a bacteria but a flagellated organism (has little "arms" that help propel it around. Men almost never have symptoms, but women will have pain, and a frothy, green to yellow vaginal discharge. This one is easy to treat with four pills flagyl all at once and it is gone. The male partner must be treated at the same time to keep from passing it back and forth.
Gonorrhea is usually treated by a shot of rocephin or oral antibiotics.
Syphilis is treated with a very large shot of bicillin (a type of penicllin), once shot a week for three weeks.
The reason we cannot get these diseases under control is that often they have no symptoms and get passed on and on and on.
Then you have HIV and Hepatitis B. These are more dangerous than the other stds. You are far more likely to get Hepatatis B from an infected partner than you are to get HIV. Hep B is 100 times easier to contract and live outside the human body for weeks. Hiv is a very very fragile virus contrary to popular belief. Once it virus is outside the human body it dies within seconds but Hep B virus can live on inanimate objects for weeks.
The best thing to do to protect yourself is first use condoms 100% of the time. Get a baseline STD profile which includes: Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, HIV, Trichomonas, Hepatitis B antibody, herpes antibodies, syphilis blood test called an "RPR". If any of these are positive you will need to be treated and your sexual contacts will need to be treated also. The Department of Public Health will get the positive results from the lab and will come after you to give them names of all you sexual contacts. So my advice would be to tell your partner(s) yourself before they are confrtonted by the "officials".

Yes i have heard the angel sing Caught a glimpse of her angel wing.. I dried my eyes free from a smear But one i missed musta been the angels' tear. My angel protects me and keeps me from harm Makes me feel safe with out any alarm. Her wings protect me all throught the day So very greatful to her is all i can say.. If i die it will not be her faught She was with me and her lessons were well taught..

Yes--I've heard of syphilis and gonorrhea.

They are cureable STDs.

I've never had either one, though.
