I know that having AIDS means that your immune system has broken down to a certain level, but once it's there are you in constant misery or what? Do you keep taking meds and if you do are they the same types as the person did when they had HIV? i've tried to find it the answer on my own, but i give up.

Someone who has AIDS is going to have to take medicine for the rest of their lives. The medication is adjusted to the needs of the patient. Every patient is different and the disease responds differently to different people. That is why there are so may cocktails of pills out there. It is not something that you can do yourself, you need a trained doctor. Someone you can build a relationship with, who you feel comfortable telling every little change. Something little to you could be significant in the disease process. That doctor is trained to be able to adjust medications to fit the needs of the patient. Good luck hope this helped a bit

From what I've read, and I've been doing a ton of research....no, you aren't in pain the rest of your life. You get "sick" from time to time but as long as you take the meds, which do vary from person to person you'll be ok. A great website....www.thebody.com. Look under "safe sex and HIV prevention.

People with AIDS who take the Cocktail medication appear to be symptom free, however, people who do stop taking the medicatio do allow their immune systems to be compromised again.

from what Ive read or heard from news shows you must always be on meds and that sometimes the symptoms are not apparent ...it might be on how healthy the person was or is to begin with ...search on line for more info or go to the library or speak to someone knowledgeable in your local health center or hospital
