I recently purchased a One Touch Ultra from Walgreens pharmacy for $10.00 It was a special that they were running. I would check with them, that is where I have had the best luck finding monitors cheaply.

I may be able to help you here. I'm prediabetic with no insurance. Thankfully, the free clinic where I live has a diabetec program. I pay $4 for my gluco strips and paid $4 for a new glucometer there because they didn't carry the strips for my old one.

If you can't find the number to the free clinic in your area, call up your local health department, they should know. So should social services. The free clinic is there to help people out and is based on income.

Also, if you are on medications this is another resource. http://www.needymeds.com/
Look at the left hand side and choose brand name, generic drugs, ect. It lets you see if your medication is listed. Again, it's income based and you'll need to print out the form and let your dr. fill out the prescription part. These people help those who need the medications, but can't pay for them due to low income. When I used the program I got a three month supply of my needed medication. You do have to reapply every three months, but it's easy enough to do.

I hope these help.

You can find glucometers on special deal at some Pharmacy's. If you can find someone to give you an old meter sometimes they can be traded for up-to-date meters. The manufactured generally get most of the money for a meter from the purchase price of the probes. Maybe the best thing to do is see your pharmacist and ask if there are any free meters to be had. If you tell him about your circumstance he may be able to do something for you.

In the back alley behind the drugstore... No, seriously... I think you should try to apply for some kind of medicaid or something. i mean, if you use a computer, you obviously make some kind of money... So, you should be eligible.

Go to Walgreens. They make a really cheap one for about $10-$12. You get some strips with it too.
