Beans and rice make a complete protein when eaten together. Mushrooms are sometimes called 'meat for vegetarians' because they have B vitamins. Nuts , beans, tofu are all high in protein. My daughter age 13 has been a vegetarian for 18 months. and she is much healthier...clear skin and has more energy. We thought it was just a trend she would outgrow, but she has made it a life time commitment and has not had any meat, not even seafood.

You don't really need to replace meat and you definitely don't need to go out and buy that processed meat substitute garbage or even eat tofu.
It's not difficult to get enough protein. Most Americans get way too much. I'm a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (meaning I eat eggs and dairy) and I often get more protein than I need. Beans, lentils, seeds, nuts, eggs, cheese, yogurt......all these things contain protein.
To be a healthful vegetarian, all you need to do is eat a variety of fresh, wholesome foods that contain no meat. It's as simple as that.

Don't make the mistake I did,and replace it with extra portions of starch and pasta! I gained 40 lbs that way and I couldn't understand why! So,replace it with more veggies, and little pasta/ starch or add fruit to the meal. I can do vegetarian and I can do meat, but prefer a vegetarian lifestyle. I am the only one in my family that is a flexitarian,so I have learned alot of vegetarian lifestyle.

Lucky that we have a very good substitute here called valless, it is made of dairy, and it has the structure and taste of chicken. Now they also have sausages and minced "meat" and burgers. I love it, even non veggies love it and dont taste a difference. But I dont know if they also sell this product out of Europe. The producer has patent on this product so...
I also like veggie burgers of some brand, filled with nuts, peas, carrots, herbs, corn and soja.
I can live perfectly without meat, but I dont. I prefer fish though. I mainly eat fruits, nuts, eggs (freerange chickens only!) and veggies. And I take sometimes extra vitamines that come originaly from meat

The Boca alt. meats have a sturdy source of protein. yet, beans do too. you purely want a balanced vegetarian weight relief plan and do what you experience is ideal on your gut. it may workout large for you. It did with me, and that i walked into vegetarianism blindly. yet, i might want to under no circumstances eat any meat lower back after I've discovered what the beef marketplace does to animals and how poisonous the nutrition finally ends up. i experience more effective now then I did with meat bodily. yet, I honestly have an more effective urge for nutrition and that i nonetheless lost weight after being vegetarian lengthy sufficient and that i nonetheless am. sturdy success!

You don't need to replace it with anything, your body is easily capable of thriving without meat. Ask the question another way...when you are not vegetarian, why do you need to add meat into your diet? Sounds silly that way round, but it is the same question.

There are a lot of meat substitutes available. Instead of a hamburger, get a garden burger or bean burger. Instead of chicken nuggets, get soy nuggets. They taste the same, and are better for you! You'd be surprised how many veggie substitutes there are for every kind of meat.
