Often a person may have many minor strokes with no symptoms, and they never know until they finally have a major, paralyzing stroke and then see on CTscan smaller past lesions. If they had only been alert at the time of th minor ones, and taken adequate care, they could have prevented a major debilitating attack -- as was the case with my grandfather.
OK... to answer your question... YES you can identify past minor asymptomatic strokes.... If a person has had a mild stroke in the past, there would be lesions seen on a CT scan - calcifications (little white spots) and cystic lesions (black spaces). Its how docs identify that a person has had mild strokes.
very smalll lesions could also be seen on MRI. Any radiologist or internal medicine specialist would easily identify the lesions - they are quite characteristic.
Also, doing an angiogram to identify blood supply could alert you to a risk of atheroscerotic vessel occlusion -- the predecessor of strokes. And of course.... forewarned is forearmed!

Probably through xrays & ct scans. Any internal damage or signs of a past stroke could be detected by these tests.
