To those people who said they'd rather die than kill an animal, you are absolutely insane.
Nutty as a squirrel in the mating season.
Seriously, you need to get your priorities right.

Die. I'd rather croak than kill an animal. That's why I'm a vegan. Think this is ridiculous, and won't happen? What if I told you that I wouldn't know the first thing about eating an animal, and that, if, God forbid, I'd find myself shooting one, I'd be so freaked out and grossed out by it, that I wouldn't know what to do next? It's not an instinct to kill animals when you're hungry. It's learned behaviour. And if you haven't learned it, you won't do it. So, that means I'd be pretty much done for in that situation - but they don't tell you is that you can get by without food for about three months, as long as you have enough water - which you do up there. It's just frozen. It's pretty likely some search party would find the wreckage in that time, and save me (unless I loose my mind and eat them).

Tahini you go boy! I'm also vegan and I agree, most people think that food is necessary for survival. What a load of crock I actually persoanlly went on a nearlly 3 month fast so I am well aware of this as an option. You only need to consume about a gallon of water a day and technically until your fat reserves run out you are good to go. Sooo anyone who thinks killing someone or something else to feed yourself is just plain old dumb and impatient too I might add.

um... if the plane blows up both me and my rifle, why the hell would I be worried about eating? And btw, you would die of exposure in the North Pole before even getting a chance to kill animals.
Being vegetarian or vegan means doing everything you can to mimimize the killing of animals for the purpose of food. It's a nicer way to live. Maybe you should try it as your brain seems to be fuddled with the toxins found in meat.

AndyB once again shows us how NOT to formulate an argument--here's a tip: if you're trying to disprove something, or to show that your position is the most accurate one, it helps to actually make an attempt at doing that, rather than just throwing out some generalized insults and then hoping for the best.
As for the question, I'd die. I have no wilderness survival training, and even assuming that I had the capacity to kill something, I wouldn't know how to make a fire to cook it and to keep myself warm. So I'd freeze to death. On a side-note, hypothetical questions, aside from illustrating ethical/philosophical implications, are often completely pointless.

1. We're not dumb enough to go looking for Santa.
2. That's incredibly unlikely.
3. I'd suck it up and try to signal for help. I'd rather starve than try to kill a polar bear and end up being killed myself. I am actually capable of field dressing large animals (if I have a knife) but I would not be fool enough to think that I could down a polar bear with a rifle.

I'd shoot the dam polar bear, start a fire and have a nice tasty fresh cut of meat. Then I would dry out the skin of the bear and use it to keep myself warm. After I killed the bear I would have food for a few weeks. Then I would let the vegan next to me starve to death because they would refuse to eat anything. Talking about this is making me hungery, I think I'm goin to go have a nice big steak. Yummy!!

If you dont know or have'nt noticed, A vegan will not go to places where he knows he cannot get food to eat!!!! atleast he'll carry them along.
And if he happened to not have that, he will starve then to kill any other living being. Death is natural it will come anyway.
Sometimes you fall from a staircase and die and sometimes you survive the cold killer wave of the artic !!
It's an sacrifice all vegan's will take.. no matter what!!

I don't believe in Santa, I am not keen on flying so the chances of that happening are slim.
I have never fired a rifle and I would not kill another animal...... next question.
