Tropical food! Make a hawaiian punch and a fruit salad! Decorate with lais and colourful flowers! Have some barbeque foods and a cold dessert like ice-pops or ice cream!

I love a traditional clambake on the beach!
Outdoor Lobster Clambake
INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 pounds seaweed (optional)

6 small sweet potatoes or yams (about 5 oz. each), scrubbed

6 ears corn shucked (husks reserved, silk discarded)

1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1/2 tsp. salt (if not using seaweed)

4 sprigs fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp. dried

4 live lobsters (about 1 1/4 lb. each)

3 pounds live clams

3 cups beer (2 12-oz. bottles) or dry white wine

Lemon wedges

Lemon Butter

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat an outdoor grill.

Place a metal steamer rack in the bottom of a 16-quart pot at least 10 inches in diameter. If using seaweed, place half of it on and under the steamer rack. Add sweet potatoes (reserving 1 for the top as a "tester") and onions. Stand corn along edge of pot, stem end down. Sprinkle with pepper, salt (if using) and thyme. Add the lobsters. Place the clams, tied loosely in cheesecloth, over the lobsters and the "tester" potato on top. Pour beer or wine over. Place a layer of seaweed and/or corn husks on the top and cover with the lid.

Place the pot on fire grate over a white-hot fire (adding more briquettes first if necessary) or on a stove over high heat. Cook until a strong gush of steam escapes (about 12 minutes on the stove, about 35 minutes on the grill). Reduce the stove heat to medium-high (leave the outdoor fire as is) and start timing. Steam-cook for about 15 minutes or until the "tester" potato is tender and the lobsters are bright red. Discard the seaweed or corn husks. Arrange the lobsters and other ingredients on a large serving platter. Serve with Green Mayonnaise and/or Lemon Butter and lemon wedges.

Servings per Recipe: 4-6

If this is too pricey, think about making the beach party a potluck, and assign everyone to bring something easy- such as cut watermelon, weiners and buns, condiments , and fixin's to make smores instead of a birthday cake.
Have fun!

If you are lucky enough to live by a beach that allows fire, try grilling gourmet sausages, like tequilqa lime chicken ones.Make foil packets filled with assorted peppers, hot and mild, red and white onions sliced thin.Sprinkle on a little Italian salad dressing and let it all cook for about 20 minutes.Carefully open the packets to let the steam get out.Toast rolls on the grill, top with your favorite cheese,I love jalepeno Jack, put the sausage on top and then veggies on top of that,Don't burn the roof of your mouth by eating too fast, maybe blow on them and make a wish, and be glad that you are so close to Mother ocaen.
