Quorn makes excellent fake chicken. Tofurkey makes good fake turkey & fake deli sliced meat. Also, if you're ever near Boston, look up Grasshopper Restaurant--all vegan, and the best fakey meats (& seafood--fakey shrimp & squid) ever! Boca has great meatless products, too (especially their chickenburgers).

HI! As I was vegetarian for 6 years the only one meat substitute is soy bean. You need to cook them then grind, then add egg, salt and pepper or other spices (it has to be a lot - soy bean does not have strong taste) and then fry them as a cutlets.
You can find a lot of substitute foods in fridge in any market but they are rather bad. The only good thing is BOCA burgers -you can put the burger to microwave and after 2 min it's ready. But remember - it will never have the taste of chicken, no matter what! best wishes

everything humans eat was once a living thing. just because we don't know if plants feel pain doesn't mean they don't. just because an animal has a face doesn't mean its purpose isn't to be food for other animals. the human body was designed to eat both animal and plant based foods.

if you don't want to eat chicken because you want to save their lives you'll be fighting a losing battle. if you don't eat it someone else will. if no one else eats it then it will have died in vain.

i don't eat meat or poultry because i don't like the taste. there are even some very good substitutes that taste enough like the real thing that i won't eat them. yuck

brands vary by country. quorn and stella mccartney have pretty good options in the uk. boca and morningside farms are pretty good in the us.

soya and mushrooms are very healthy choices and cooked properly can be very flavourful and satisfying.

Wheat gluten - also called seitan (pronounced SAY-tahn), wheat meat, wheat-meat, wheatmeat, gluten meat, or simply gluten - is a foodstuff made from wheat gluten. It is made by washing dough made from wheat flour in water until the starch is rinsed away, leaving only the gluten, which can then be cooked and processed in various ways.

Wheat gluten, although not as well known, is an alternative to soy-based meat substitutes such as tofu; some types may taste even more like meat than tofu due to their chewy and/or stringy texture. It is often used in place of meat in Asian, vegetarian, Buddhist, and macrobiotic cuisines.

Wheat gluten is most popular in China, where it was first developed, as well as in the cuisines of other East and Southeast Asian nations. In Asia, it is commonly found on the menus of restaurants catering primarily to Buddhist customers who do not eat meat, but who nonetheless enjoy eating meatless versions of meat dishes.

A lot of grocery stores carry Morningstar Farms soy products in the frozen foods section, that are a good replacement product for chicken, beef and sausage.

Try tofu. I know South Indians have a wheat substitute that tastes just like chicken but I don't remember what it's called.
