To diagnose rheumatic fever,, u have to know it affects mainly children at age of 7 up to 18 years old,, and it need treatment for a long period till about 10 years from the date of discovery,, but actually u did not treat the disease itself but only prohylactic treatment to prevent its recuerrnce with mostly penicillin or one of its derivatives,,or cephalosporins,,,if this disease already affect internal organs,,mostly heart or kidney,, treatment will depend on what exactly the pathology exists,,and ranges from corticosteroides up to surgery

It's rare these days but usually occurs after strep throat antibiotics do not take proper effect. Need to be admitted into a hospital for about a week, and put on antibiotics which are intraveinlously fed. Than penicilin twice a day for the rest of your life, or at least until the age of 30+.
