There should be no way scabies can be confused with syphilis.
Scabies are mites that burrow under the skin and lays eggs, they are not sexually transmitted. Creams and lotions are used to get rid of the mites.
Syphilis is a bacterial infection caused by an organism called a spirochete. Doxycycline 100 mg capsules and Penicillin are used to treat syphilis.
If your doctor gave you Doxycycline chances are you probably have syphilis and not scabies.
Check out this site for some more information about the two:

Usually, scabies will cause skin sores which look like tiny curving tracks. These tracks are actually the burrows that the mites have created under the skin. The burrows are destroyed by scratching or abrasive washing and may not be visible. Occasionally a small blister or tiny black dot (the mite itself) may be noticeable at the end of the tracks.
For adults and teens scabies are usually found:
Between the fingers
On the underside (palm side) of the wrist
Around the elbows
In the armpits
Around the waistline and the navel
On the buttocks
Women - On and around the breasts
Men - On the genitals ,,and the symptoms of syphillis is Primary phase: The primary phase usually starts with a sore at the site of infection. The sore or lesion is called a chancre (pronounced shanker). This sore usually appears as a craterlike lesion on the male or female genitals, although any part of the body is at risk. Anyone who touches an infected sore can transmit the infection. This initial lesion develops 3-4 weeks after infection and heals spontaneously after 1 week. Though the sore goes away, the disease does not. It progresses into the secondary phase.
Secondary phase: The secondary phase may develop 4-10 weeks after the chancre. This phase has many symptoms, which is why syphilis is called the great pretender. It may look like a number of other illnesses. This phase of syphilis can go away without treatment, but the disease then enters the third phase. These are the most frequently reported symptoms of the secondary phase:
Fever
Joint pain
Muscle aches
Sore throat
Flulike symptoms
Whole-body rash (usually involving the palms and soles)
Headache
Decreased appetite
Patchy hair loss
Swollen lymph nodes
Latent (dormant) phase: The early latent phase (first 1-2 years) is characterized by occasional relapses back to symptoms of the secondary phase of syphilis. More than 2 years after the start of the latent phase,

If you did not have any sexual contact, you do not have syphilis. Scabies are difficult to treat You have to be very careful to follow the directions for the medication, Have all possibly infected clothes and bed linens in the washer before you take the shower,
get into fresh clothes, and then repeat the process the next morning.
I presume the chancres are caused by the mites before they were killed and they take time to heal. The doxicycline is to cure any infection that might be slowing the healing process. Sometimes other antibiotics have to be tried. Your doctor seems to be taking good care of you. Go back to him and tell him that the
chancres are not healing.
I had scabies myself. I caught it when I worked as a R.N. in a hospital and washed a patients back with my bare hands. It's no fun but be patient.

Go back to the doctor some of the new syphillis strains are resistant to antibiotics.there is a specific test for syphillis have it done. Also the chances of you having contracted syphillis without
sexual contact with anyone is very slim unless you are into sheep.

once you have scabies, it will affect you all over your body, not just in the pubic area. scabies are raised red bumps all over your body that have little scabs on them....caused by the little boogers burrowing under your skin to lay eggs....it will itch like crazy.....now on syphyllis, im not sure if thats one of the std's that you can easily catch from a toilet seat or not.....you dont have to have sexual relations just to get an std.....there are some you can catch just by coming in contact with an object that has been used by someone with an std. (example again...toilets)
i suggest to go to your doctor asap, and find out for sure....dont put it off any longer.

Sounds like you need to go see the doctor. In the meantime you can use a penis health creme in order to keep the penis skin extra clean. Find one that contains Vitamin A (it is antibacterial) and apply it every day. This will help control some of the problems you have down there. Good luck to you.
