This is an old folk practice that is common in the Hispanic culture.There is no scientific/clinical proof that it works.
However, just having the belief that something works often times does (this is called the placebo effect). So I, for one, will not discount it totally. If a person believes it will work, then it might to some extent.

yes, it's the ones with the black strip on the back that works the best. I was kind of skeptical. we got my chi when i was 14 never had an asthma trouble after we got her, i don't have severe case of asthma but did have some problems. well i moved out when i was 20, 2 months later i was at the doctor getting medicine for asthma and had few incidents with it up till about feb of this year. i had to take the same chi in and i havent had a single problem. I stopped coughing at night and everything, don't feel my chest tightning or any thing. i'm 25 now and those 5 yrs at least 4 or 5 times a yr i would have to go to the doc.

I had asthma as a child and my mother got a Chihuahua and it did get better but those dogs are mean

my lil sis had asthma & we got one..seemed to help. they can be considered mean..but usually only to other peeps. they are very territoral and protective of their owners. but u can break that habit if u want...simply by discouragement! u can also use plastic liners for ur mattress and pillowcases. make sure to keep all the dust picked up, skimp on the stuffed animals, heavy purfumes, aresols, etc. and keep the filters changed on ur indoor ac/heating unit!

not if ur allergic to dogs it will not help ur asthma...it will make it worse.im allergic to everything under the sun n more..i have very bad asthma that has turned into emphysema n im not a smoker..unfortunately i inherited it from my mom n grandfather..but allergies interact with my breathing n it causes me to have problems..
