I was given 6 month's before my heart would fail but that was 3 years ago.I was placed on a donor's list for a heart in 03.I'm suffering with chest pain, palpitation's,swollen leg's and ankles. Shortness of breath and fatigue. Can't stand or sit for long periods of time.Fluid builds up around my heart and lung yet i was denied social security 2 times.I believe it was based on my age because I'm young.I got the Heart failure/Cardiomyopathy from giving birth, the strain of pushing severely damaged my left ventricle.I'm 30 and have 3 children and no one seems to care.I don't even want to go out.Now I'm seeing a therapist for my depression. My mother died suddenly when i was 9month's pregnant in 03 before I got diagnosed with heart failure.I gave birth a week after her funeral.I walked in on the doctor's were trying to revive her and have panic attacks when i see things that remind me of that day.I don't even want to go outside.I feel like the system doesn't help the one's who are truly sick.

I just received my 1st SS check after fighting for it for two years. Did you know that you have the right to go in & look at your SS file? Even to make copies if you choose to? When I copied mine, I saw a podiatrist actually had lied so that I could not get it-even tho my primary Dr & neurologist said I couldn't work. I had stopped seeing the podiatrist because he was a quack.

You must be seeing a cardiologist & be on alot of diuretics for your excess fluid problems. I'm a nurse & can relate to your medical situation.. Call your local SS office. Tell them you want to see your file & possibly make copies. Go so far as to ask them to make copies for you and that you will pick them up. They may or may not do this for you. You can take a friend with you. At the very least, you can see what your cardiologist says about your condition. With SS, your Dr has to SAY loud & clear in his report, that you cannot work. After you see his report, you can go from there. Don't stop filing. Keep doing it until it's approved. Make sure it is sent in on time.

I saw a lawyer & he would not take my case. He never gave me a reason-I think it may be because SS did not owe me enough $$ to make it worth his trouble. I filed for SSI too and was denied because my initial filing was denied. They will deny it as long as they can. Are you aware that you do not get SS for the first 5 months after filing and that you have to wait for Medicare for 2 years after your initial filing. With your heart condition, you may have to hire a lawyer. I'm sure your energy level is zip. If you do and when you win your case (and you will), tell the lawyer you want to keep your SS file. You'll be glad you did! Good Luck!!

Did you have any luck? My husband is going through all of this now. You don't need a psychiatrist, you need a Neurologist. My husband has been forced off of work and firefighting because he can't function. We have done all the aggressive treatments the doctors have thrown at us... to name a few DHE (8 doses with a 6 day hospital stay), injections weekly, oxygen and he's on or has been on every medicine known to man. He is Currently taking 14 different prescriptions with no relief in sight. He has had every test done that you could think of including a spinal tap an MRI, CT's, blood tests, allergy tests... it's never ending. People saying "just suck it up" obviously haven't been through this. We spent 2 weeks total in the hospital (Not The ER) just trying to help his head a little. He tried to "suck it up" and he was told he is a liability and is not cleared to work until the Neurologist clears him. We see the doctor every week and just yesterday he was told to lay down for another month and was handed a doctors note. If you don't have cluster headaches, you have no idea what you are talking about. There's so much more to our story, I just wish I could do something to help. :( If possible, I'd really like to know how your situation turned out.

Sorry to see that this is a lot of issues going on at once. First, I would contact a lawyer that specializes in disablites, and especially the part with your anxiety, it is more commonly accepted and not denied through phsycholigical disabilities and your back up is your heart failure. Reports have shown that applying for this in this order is a much higher chance of being accepted than rejected ( esp the first time around), but you really need a lawyer to handle this. Chekc his success rate at these type of cases first, and then move forward, ASAP. Dont delay, it is not a short and easy process. Good luck.
