I am a cardiologist at a university in the Midwest. My American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Internal Medicine just expired, but my Cardiology certification is still good. If one reads my answers, I think my level of expertise can be discerned.
And if one chooses to accept my information, great. If not, that's okay, too. Most who ask/answer questions on this site realize that. And if one looks closely, one might notice that I almost always tell the asker talk to his/her doctor.
I answer questions here because I enjoy people and I enjoy this site, most of the time. (Although angry people get a little old.) I may be the exception to the belief one person cited that all physicians are self-serving. And believe me, I do have a life! It is quite full, with a husband and family. This forum actually helps to relax me, most of the time.
Run and hide? From what? Does this nurse carry a weapon? I'll admit that she does seem angry.
But seriously, dulcern4u may be angry with me because I disagreed with her answer regarding chelation therapy, but this is, after all, a forum for discussion. And I will take this opportunity to correct the good nurse about the fact that caths are now routinely done via the radial artery, and the smaller sheaths (such as 4 Fr or 5 Fr) can and are introduced into this vessel. If you don't believe this, check with your cath lab the next day you work, dulcern4u.
The fact is, I don't look down on nurses. I look up to them and the public should, too. They are in the trenches, too, and more so than the cardiologists. I always advise my housestaff to look up to and respect the nursing staff. Not only do they have a tough job, they have saved many patients lives and many residents a--es.
Thanks, Tori. I appreciate your looking out for my back. Hopefully, dulcern4u can relax a bit.

You go girl! I think nurse dulcern4u is a very good nurse but a bit full of herself. Maybe a bit jealous of the doc. And obviously none of us have a life or we wouldn't be hangin' out here. And we are all overworked and underpaid. 'Specially us in the lab that don't have enough techs and we have to go to school longer than nurses and get half the pay. But then, I didn't choose my career based on pay so I can't complain too much about that - only about the lack of a life and wastin' it here on Yahoo with a bunch of Yahoos. :)

Sweety Pie! lol I wander the halls taking care of people like you. My problem is that AmyP is misrepresenting herself! People will see that she claims to be a cardiologist, and rely on the information she is giving them. Not everyone can afford to go to a cardiologist, so they are kinda of getting advice here in substitute for that. Perhaps you and I wouldn't choose to base our health care decisions on a general web site, but others aren't as lucky as we are. Yes, I am a nurse not a doctor-and I'm proud of being one. You better hope you don't get sick, cause you've just insulted all of us!! Stupid little sh**!!!!!!!!! Come into a intensive care unit and see how much time we have for "wandering"!!!!!!
