See a doctor, PRONTO. That's your carotid artery, carries blood to your brain.

You are a "stroke, waiting to happen".
HURRY!

I'm very serious.

A lot more information has to be given to decide whats wrong with you. If only 1 neck vein is distended, not to worry, you have one on the other side. Is it distended?
Do you get dizzy when you are bending down or when you stand up from bending down?

Your referring to JVD (jugular vein distention). You need to see your physician for further testing. Do you have high blood pressure? any congestive heart failure? Again, AmyP the "cardiologist" gave you such an informative answer-I"m still asking Amy, where did you get your medical degree and where did you specialize in "cardiology". Any cardiologist would have immediately told this person it was JVD not the "Carotids" distending as was suggested by previous answers.

jugular vein distention (JVD) could be a sign of congestive heart failure. you need to visit a cardiologist and get checked out the sooner the better. you may need some medications to help your heart function better, and cut down on the dizziness.

this might b due to jugular venous distension, consequent to problems in right side of ur heart. see, jugular vein reflects the pressure of right atrium, coz it originates from right atrium & has no valves in it. & jugular vein ditension means elevated pressure in right atrium, which may b atrributed to tricuspid valve stenosis. so i suggest u to kindly see a cardiologist. he''ll get ur 2d-echo done, which is used to see functioning of cardiac chambers & heart valves.

You may need a medical doctor. It could be high blood pressure or a clot. Make an appointment ASAP.

Go see your doctor. You are not a stroke waiting to happen, but you do need to be checked out.
