HIV is not transmitted by saliva. It is transmitted by blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk. Kissing someone with HIV is a very, very safe activity, even deep kissing. Also remember, HIV is not transmitted by skin to skin contact. The lining of the mouth is very thick and designed that way to protect us from all types of infections. So oral sex, getting HIV+ semen or vaginal fluids in your mouth are also a very low to no risk for infection. Theoretically, if you have big, open gaping, bloody sores in your mouth and blood, semen or vaginal fluid goes directly int that spot, there is a possibility of HIV infection, but the Center for Disease Control, which has tracked how HIV is transmitted for over 25 years, does not consider kissing to been a risk for HIV and oral sex is considered to be very very low risk. Researchers at UCSF consider oral sex to have a zero probability of transmission. Unprotected receptive anal and vaginal sex with someone who has HIV in their blood and semenal fluids are how most people are infected by HIV. So using condoms is a good way to protect yourself from HIV exposure in these activities.

Deep Throat Kissing

Dear Vani

In answer to your medical question, as you will know AIDS is a sexual transmitted disease contacted through sexual intercourse and to be quit honest, any person who as any form of sexual relation's with a AIDS person is only asking for medical trouble.

However, there are different kinds of AIDS and most of them are contacted through sexual intercourse between either male & male, or male & female, but the chances upon AIDS being contacted between female & female is vertually none existant.

However, if your sexual activity with a AIDS person is just deep throat kissing with NO oral sex involved, then there is no chance that you will contact AIDS yourself.

On the other hand, if your sexual activity with a AIDS person includes both oral sex and deep throat kissing, there is the possible chance that AIDS can and will be contacted.

My possible medical advice which I can give you, is that if either you, or your partner does have AIDS, then by all means continue kissing, but totally avoid oral sex completely from your sexual activities, until such time as the AIDS condition as been cleared
by your Doctor, or Hospital Dermatology Department within the US State to were you live.

I therefore trust that this answer's your medical question.

It is possible to contract HIV from deep kissing if the uninfected person already has a lowered immune system. For a normal, healthy person the risk is minimal. Saliva contains several enzymes that break down most proteins. HIV is a protein. Now, as to oral sex, a woman giving oral sex is more susceptible to becoming infected because of possibility of more tissue damage to the throat. Otherwise the risk is approximately equal to deep kissing. In other words, minimal. Always use protection, either a condom, a dental dam, or even clear plastic wrap.

Deep kissing is a no, unless there is an open wound in the mouth and you come in contact with any blood. AIDS is a blood borne pathogen meaning it can survive only in blood. This includes semen and vaginal secretion because of the content of both including white blood cells, which can carry the virus. So you can in fact contract it from Oral sex, which is why you should always use protection when engaging in any sexual activity.

Yeah, you would get AIDS from oral sex, but it's very, very unlikely that you would contract AIDS from any form of kissing.

Kissing can not cause a person to contract HIV / AIDS. Oral Sex is a nother story. As far as I understand it, it is very possible to contact HIV / AIDS from oral sex.

The answer is YES: but the AIDS-carrier must have a bleeding wound into his/her mouth, . If an AIDS-carrier just come to the dentist, this is possible, or if he/she suffers of bleeding tooths.
