Yes - Herpes Simplex I usually causes cold sores on the lips and can be spread by kissing.
Herpes Simplex II is usually considered to be genital Herpes - but it can be spread to lips as well if you get in contact with - uh you know.

oral herpes can be transferred mouth to mouth and genital herpes can be transferred by oral sex.
